Leadership in Community and Public Health
At the Flint Campus, medical students can participate in the Leadership in Community and Public Health certificate program. This unique learning opportunity offers hands-on experiences working with underserved populations through community-engaged research, electives with community-based organizations, and international experiences. Clinical training is augmented with core public health disciplines of epidemiology, public policy, behavioral and environmental health.
The program highlights the importance of cultural competency, health equity, and population health in the physician's role of improving the health and well-being of their patients and community. The newly established certificate program combines two of the college's legacy programs, the Leadership in Medicine for the Underserved and the Medical Partners in Public Health.
